Why a Belt?
In the Roman army, the belt was the foundation of everything. It held the breastplate in place and allowed the soldier to tuck his tunic and move freely in battle. Without it, he was exposed — vulnerable and slow.
Paul knew exactly what he was describing. Truth works the same way. Every other piece of who you are — your integrity, your courage, your relationships — depends on whether you are grounded in it.
Truth is not one virtue among many. It is the foundation all the others stand on.
What "Truth" Means Here
1. Doctrinal Truth — The Word of God
Satan is called “the father of lies” (John 8:44). His primary weapon has always been deception — twisting truth just enough to mislead. A man grounded in Scripture cannot be easily moved. Know what you believe. Know why. Hold it.
2. Personal Integrity — Living Truthfully
Hypocrisy and hidden sin are like a loose belt — they leave you exposed in battle. A man must be genuine before God and before others. Living in truth frees you. Deception and compromise slow you down and drain you.

Emotions are not Truth.
